I was honoured to be asked to be the maid of honour for my bestie's wedding and excitedly started to plan a SURPRISE wedding shower surrounding one of her favourite things - Tea!

I spent a lot of time crafting with local artist, Autumn Smith, and we came up with some fun ideas to create our version of Wonderland.

I almost always create a Photo Booth for a party. It's a great way to make sure your guests have some fun memories of the event. The signs were cut by my husband and painted by Autumn and I and we used an old coat rack to make a free standing post to display them. I printed out some clocks and purchased the pink and purple poufs from the dollar store to decorate the tree. The flamingos and giant flowers were also from the dollar store. I borrowed the pink couch from my Godmother.

Some of the props were purchased but we made a custom 'Off with her head!' speech bubble and Queen of Hearts hair.

I went to the local used bookstore, Bearly Used Books, to get some old copies of Alice in Wonderland to put around in the hedges and also at this station. Here I have a copy open to the chapter of 'Advice from a Caterpillar'. As it was a wedding shower I asked the guests to write advice for the bride on a card that she could read later. I sculpted a caterpillar using clay from the dollar store and painted it as best I could. The toadstool was an upside down red bowl painted with white dots and propped up on a white cup.

You can't have a tea party without tea! We made a tiny 'Drink Me' sign and framed a print out that reads 'It's always tea time'. We had a stuffed rabbit so we added it to this table to tie into the theme once more. I bought tea cups from a flea market and actually made candles out of half them as party favours for the guests!

This is a pallet board that I stained to hang childhood photos of the bride and groom.

For the food table I made a banner out of playing cards, an 'Eat Me' sign, painted dollar store flamingo cups and adorned the hedge with more copies of Alice in Wonderland, the poofs, and a print out that read 'We're all mad here'. We had tea sandwiches, mini scones, red velvet cupcakes, muffins, veggies, pita with spinach dip, fruit, and chips.

The guests played 'Who Knows the Bride Best' and my sister created a story replacing similar words with names of chocolate bars that were displayed on a poster board. Whoever guessed the corresponding chocolate bar won it.

The bride was expecting to go to brunch with her Fiance and friends but instead she traveled into Wonderland!
